(Health-NewsWire.Net, February 27, 2015 ) Beaverton, OR -- The days of taking a sip of odd-tasting water from a plastic sports bottle are over thanks to the debut of a new sure-grip reusable water bottle that's also leak proof.
Lumenaura Pty Ltd is bringing the Lumenaura water bottle to market online.
"We have heard many people complain about the odd taste of water that's been left in a plastic bottle. It's particularly bad in the summer time when the water warms up," said Kate Richards, Media Relations. "The solution is to put the water into a container that won't affect the taste."
The taste issue also eliminated metal containers, Kate Richards said.
"We wanted something a consumer could carry everywhere and it had to be leak proof. Glass was the natural choice for keeping the water pure in a reusable container. We had the issue of how to make it more sturdy," Kate Richards said.
A lightweight yet durable silicone cover around the bottle solved that problem. The flexible material provides a sure grip and cushion to make the water bottle almost unbreakable. It also provides a superior insulation compared to plain glass bottles or plastic bottles. It's dishwater safe too.
Reviewing the bottle online, laral said, "I love it. Perfect for in my handbag. Now I can take my filtered water with me wherever I go in glass. This is so much better for my health. I love both colours but I chose the Guava a lovely pink. The top is easy to hold and carry and plus it is easy to fill and drink from - no spills! I would totally recommend this bottle to anyone."
NO BPA
Kate Richards said while the federal government says that small doses of BPA are harmless, more recent research is proving something different.
"We looked for something that is portable, has a good gripping surface and leak proof," Kate Richards said. "The other problem we wanted to overcome is BPA (Bisphenol A). People are really working to get away from BPA in the containers they use for food and beverages."
A report from April of last year in Mother Jones discussed research into plastic bottles. The scientists found that exposure to "the heat of a microwave, the steam of a dishwasher, or the sun's ultraviolet rays" is not necessary for BPA to leach out of the plastic. The report said nearly every one of the plastics tested leached BPA.
"According to Bittner's research, some BPA-free products actually released synthetic estrogens that were more potent than BPA," the article states.
"You have a choice. You can drink from plastic bottles that leach chemicals into your beverage of choice or you can use glass. Remember in science labs, researchers use glass, not plastic, for holding samples and doing many experiments. The researchers need something that won't contaminate their work," Kate Richards said.
The company offers a 60-day "better than money back guarantee" on its sales of the leak proof and reusable Lumenaura water bottle.
