Air Fresheners and Scented Candles May Spur Allergic Reactions. The company Concept2Commerce's goal is to bring clean and fresh air to every household that is why they are very keen in sharing the said article.
During holidays and special occasions many people buy air fresheners and scented candle to make the house smell good for visitors, however these "fresh" scents can be another's chemical irritants based on a research. These products can easily trigger allergy symptoms - from runny, itchy noses and sneezing to asthma attacks. Allergists said that the rise of the popularity of scented product have also risen the complaints from their patients.
Dr. Stanley Fineman, president-elect of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI), said that patients with the same problems have been increasing. Some of his patients told him that they have allergic attacks when they go into somebody's house who have air fresheners. Dr. Fineman also added that there is no allergy skin test for air fresheners, but people can definitely have a physiologic response to it The products smells good that is why people think that others will be bothered by it. Some people with allergies and asthma might get a sensation that if the smell is familiar like fresh pines or cinnamon they don't have a problem, but if its a smell of a flower they are feeling bothered for some reasons.
There are about 11 percent of more than 2,000 adults surveyed are reported to have hypersensitivity to common laundry products. 31 percent said they are having an "adverse reaction" to scented products on other people, and about 19 percent reported having breathing difficulties, headaches or other health problems when exposed to air fresheners. Rates were higher among people with asthma.
Scented candles and air fresheners emit VOCs, or volatile organic compounds, which are chemicals that form a gas or vapor at room temperature, Fineman said. The VOCs present in air fresheners often include formaldehyde, petroleum distillates, limonene, alcohol and esters. The best solution that Concept2Commerce have for people who wish to keep their houses smelling good without being exposed to VOC's is to get air purifiers and air purifiers essences like the CareforAir Rainbow Breezer and the CareforAir Essence which are water based oils made from natural ingredients.
